Broccolin in Alberique

Hey broccoli lovers!

2 Days Ago we were spending the day in Alberic, a village in the Ribera Alta, 40 kilometers from Valencia, in Holy Week. There the ‘mona’ Easter or ‘panquemao’ is one of their most well-known products on a global level, but we went to talk of healthy eating.

Thanks to Juan Gutierrez, the director of the college La Milagrosa, we stayed with the students from 1st to 4st of primary. With them we spent wonderful hours enjoying his spontaneity and his chalice innocent.

With the smaller ones, in the 1st and 2nd primary, we were surprised because a large part of them had not tested the broccoli. In this area is typical the production of citrus fruits such as oranges, mandarins or khaki, for that reason they are more accustomed to the consumption of fruit. With our chat them woke up curiosity and we promised to do a rich recipe and send it to us o win a Brocolin puppy.

With the children in the 3rd and 4th we are talking about  the taste, whay there are vegetables that change of smell when they are cooked and the importance of following the food guide pyramid. Although many of them confessed not knowing the broccoli or that generated rejection by their shape or smell, all of them were involved very much in the chat and promised us eat more vegetables. In addition, all were very happy to learn that we gift them a piece of broccoli for cooking at home with their mum and dad.
